Priority registration has now closed for the 2021-22 Hueneme at Home Digital Learning Academy. To join the waitlist, please complete this form.
For the 2021-22 school year, a limited number of spaces will be available in the Hueneme at Home Digital Learning Academy for students in grades kindergarten through 6. Priority registration begins on May 18th and ends on June 1st at 4:00pm. If the number of applicants exceeds the space available, a lottery will be held to determine the order of enrollment. Applications received after June 1st will be placed on a waiting list. Families will receive notice of the status of their application the first week of June.
If selected, please be aware of the following:
Participation in Hueneme at Home requires a one-year commitment.
Students will need to follow independent study requirements, which include an annual independent study contract and completion of all assigned work.
Students will be transferred from their home school to the Hueneme at Home Digital Learning Academy. They will no longer be enrolled at their home school. This is a change from this year where students remained enrolled in their home school.
Students will receive 2 - 2.5 hours of daily remote instruction from an HESD teacher.
Students will receive daily independent assignments that may require parent support and guidance.
Students will be required to participate in a weekly check-in with their teacher outside of the daily virtual teaching period.
For students with special education eligibility, an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meeting will be scheduled and held upon a parent indicating intent to enroll their student in Hueneme at Home. An IEP meeting is necessary in order to review the special education services and supports a child requires in order to access a general education program, as well as any special education and related services to determine if the student’s special education learning needs can, or cannot be met in Hueneme at Home. If an IEP team determines a student's special education learning needs can be met, a new IEP will be developed to reflect the Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) offer, specifically for enrollment in Hueneme at Home. It is important to know that this FAPE offer may differ from what a child’s FAPE offer would be if a parent chose to enroll in a comprehensive public school site. Additionally, parents may be required to transport the student to a neighborhood school site in order to access the special education services outlined in the IEP.
To apply for Hueneme at Home, please complete this application between May 18th and May June 1st at 4:00pm. Families will be notified by June 11th if they were selected. The application can also be found on the district website.
