Greetings Hueneme ESD Community,

As we prepare to embark on another exciting academic year, I am pleased to extend a warm welcome back to the Hueneme Elementary School District. Our entire team is eagerly looking forward to reuniting with our students, families, and staff as we collectively work toward a year of growth, learning, and success.

HESD is committed to providing every student with a rigorous and engaging learning experience. We are excited to continue to offer an array of academic and enrichment opportunities that will ignite curiosity, inspire creativity, and foster a love for learning. Our dedicated educators are equipped to guide students on a journey of discovery, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will serve them well throughout their lives.

We are proud to unveil our new Strategic Arts Education Plan, designed to infuse the power of creativity into our curriculum. Through visual arts, media arts. music, theater, and dance, we aim to nurture a well-rounded educational experience that nurtures both academic and artistic growth. The Strategic Arts Education Plan will be posted on our website after formal adoption by the Governing Board later this month.

The safety of our students remains a top priority in Hueneme Elementary School District. We have taken extensive measures to ensure that our campuses are secure learning environments where your child can flourish without hesitation.

Our comprehensive safety protocols are continuously updated and aligned with best practices, and we collaborate closely with local law enforcement to ensure a vigilant and responsive approach.
Video cameras were installed at three additional school sites this summer. The remaining three school sites will have cameras installed this school year.
We doubled our School Resource Officer (SRO) contract with the Oxnard Police Department and will have a new SRO dedicated solely to our schools.
Our heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) projects continue to progress, with 10 of our 11 schools either completed or under construction. The new HVAC systems will allow classroom doors to be closed and locked throughout the day while maintaining a comfortable and healthy environment inside the classroom.
Last year we launched WeTip, an anonymous reporting system accessible on the front page of every school website. Reports can also be made by text or phone. We encourage famiilies to review the WeTip reporting system.

As we embark on this new academic journey, I encourage you to actively participate in your child's educational experience. Engage with their teachers, attend school events, and join us in fostering a strong sense of community within our district. Hueneme ESD uses ParentSquare for school communication, primarily with email, text and app notifications. ParentSquare automatically generates an account for each parent, using their preferred email address and phone number. We encourage parents to register their account and download the mobile app to update their preferences on when and how they are notified. Together, we can create an environment where every student is empowered to reach their full potential.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. We look forward to seeing all our students on Tuesday, August 22nd. Together, we will make this year a memorable and successful one.
