Counselor's Corner

Dear Blackstock community,

We hope you and your family are doing well and staying safe.  As we all know, these past few weeks have been extremely difficult not only for our community but for the world.  As the school counselors at Blackstock we wanted to make sure you knew that we are here for you and your family as an added layer of support.  The overall well-being of our students is the driving force in our profession, and being available to the Blackstock community is important to us.  Please know that we are available to you via phone or google meets if you have any concerns and/or just need someone to talk to.

Things to keep in mind:

Confidentiality: The rule is still the same, what we talk about is still confidential, unless, you are feeling unsafe or wanting to harm yourself, you are wanting to harm others, and lastly, if you report any type of child abuse, then we will need to report to appropriate agencies and/or parent/guardian.

Risk and Benefits: There are risks involved with meeting via phone/google meets such as poor internet service, dropping calls. One thing to think about is your surroundings to maintain confidentiality. The majority of us are all at home with our families, so if possible, try to find a quiet area where you can meet for the sessions. The benefits of sessions are that you will still have ongoing support. This may be an easier way to access support.

Scheduling & Session Times: The best way to schedule a session is to email us. Please provide us with your student id number in the email. Session times are between 10 am - 4 pm, weekdays. In the case of an immediate emergency please call 911.
